Revolutions happen more frequently than an AI surveillance bot might think.
Oh, wait, do they think? But then again, do WE? Or do we just rotate through political-economic systems on a predictable pattern with little change? Remember that Earth rotates, every day, every day. We appreciate sunrise and possibilities--changes, right?--that we might have missed before. Or that have only just become possible, because of other shifting factors. We settle gratefully under a starlit sky, thankful for the opportunity to rest and dream and let go of what isn't serving us or others. Earth also takes the long, eggish loop around our Sunstar, each year becoming a revolution unto itself. A shift-upon-shift, concatenating changes rise and fall, visible in emergent sprouts and confetti-colored leaves and wind-sculpted crystal drifts.

So when a friend says, why wade through and wait for what passes as REALITY in the publishing vein, one might answer Why, Indeed? Instead, she created Winter Woods Publishing with this motivating tagline: Sharing Voices of Writers Who Help Create and Celebrate a Heart-Centered Existence. Indie presses have been lauded in this newsletter before, and yes, hallelujah for the ability to be nimble and the chance to focus on other-than-commercial interests. The press has released its first book, with a timely, ecologically-connected plot and worldwide distribution. Step One on its new journey. Then she asked if my short story collection might travel along as Step Two: and this time, Why Not? Easy to withdraw my submission from other possibilities and roll toward this one, where the work of writer and publisher are readily understood as reciprocal gifts. Mutual reinforcement of our need for and delight in each other's existence.
Which brings us 'round to a third step, where a journey is clearly underway, and this is where more travelers are encouraged to join in, creating and celebrating. Click on the website link above to discover more about the submission call for the press' first all-genre anthology, to be called Mycelia: exploring planetary perception, human interaction and radical reciprocity. My new role with this publishing house will be as a member of the prose reading team, and your essays, stories or flash pieces are encouraged. Let's get a little radical, together.
